Cilacap – A man who worked as a fake shaman was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Cilacap Police Resort, Central Java. The man named Supriyadi, also known as Mbah Supri (52), is suspected of repeatedly committing molestation against dozens of his patients.
The Deputy Chief of the Cilacap Police Resort, AKBP Arief Fajar Satria, explained that the perpetrator used a method in an attempt to cure patients from their illnesses. According to him, the perpetrator’s behavior was uncovered because there was a report from one of the victims who claimed to have been subjected to indecent treatment by the shaman during treatment. Then, they conducted an investigation and examined several witnesses.
However, as the investigation progressed, several women who were also suspected to be victims of Mbah Supri reported to the police. Based on these reports, Mbah Supri had to deal with the law, and he was arrested at his residence in the village of Pekuncen, Kroya, Cilacap.
“We arrested him at his home, which was used as a place for his fake shaman practice. And, the place where he molested 10 victims,” said Arief Fajar to tvOne news, on Friday, November 17, 2023.
Then, from the results of the examination, the perpetrator was found to have carried out his despicable acts since 2021. The perpetrator’s modus operandi was to pose as a smart person or shaman who could cure various types of illnesses.
To assure his patients, Mbah Supri deliberately displayed mystical items at his practice place. Items such as a dagger, sword, clay pot, shroud, and others were confiscated by the police.
When carrying out his actions, the perpetrator always asked female patients to stay at his house. According to the perpetrator, it was for the healing ritual.
Then, the patients were asked to engage in same-sex relationships with the help of adult aids. The perpetrator then recorded the patients’ activities for his personal collection.
In addition, the perpetrator forced the victims to have sexual intercourse with him. If the patients refused, the perpetrator threatened to drive them insane.
The police also secured the tools used by the perpetrator during his actions. These tools included a mobile phone, a sex vibrator, and mystical practice tools.
“Then the suspect committed sexual acts against his victims, with a total of 10 victims,” explained Arief Fajar.
The police are still developing the case of the lecherous shaman, Mbah Supri. The perpetrator is now in jail to be held accountable for his actions.
The perpetrator is charged with multiple articles, namely Article 6 of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning sexual violence, Article 289 of the Criminal Code concerning attacks on honor and decency, and Article 378 of the Criminal Code concerning fraud.
