Jakarta – Indikator Politik Indonesia has released the results of the 2024 Presidential Election exit poll, which revealed that the Javanese ethnic group tends to use their voting rights to vote for candidate number 2, Prabowo-Gibran, in the general election on February 14, 2024.
“According to the survey results based on the Permanent Voters List (DPT) or the Javanese voter population, 43.2% who attended the Polling Stations (TPS), followed by the Sundanese ethnic group at 17.1% and other national ethnic groups,” said the main researcher of Indikator Politik Indonesia, Burhanuddin Muhtadi, in a presentation of the Exit Poll for the 2024 Presidential Election: Demographic Basis and Voter Behavior conducted virtually on Wednesday (2/21/2024).
He continued that this is interesting because the Javanese ethnic group’s presence at the TPS is 43.2%, even though the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) data shows that the Javanese ethnic group is around 43%.
“So, the Javanese people tend to use their voting rights, including the Sundanese and others. The main point here is that approximately, the Javanese ethnic group, which is known to be pro-Prabowo-Gibran based on pre-election surveys, tends to use their voting rights to vote for Prabowo-Gibran,” said Burhanuddin.
The exit poll was conducted at 3,000 TPS spread across each electoral district. The sample was selected using stratified two-stage random sampling methods. A total of 2,975 respondents were interviewed.
Meanwhile, the margin of error tolerance level is +/- 1.8% with a 95% confidence level.
An exit poll is a method to determine public opinion conducted shortly after someone leaves the polling booth at the Polling Stations (TPS). Generally, the questions asked are not too many. However, one piece of information that is extracted in the exit poll is the reason for the choice so that the distribution of voter preferences can be understood more deeply. (SENOPATI)
