Detective Conan’s latest film, titled Fallen Angel of the Highway, promises thrilling chase scenes on the highway. Directed by Taka Hero Haswi and written by Takairo Okura, the movie takes a different approach compared to previous Detective Conan stories. The focus is on high-speed action and character drama rather than conventional mystery cases.
The storyline unfolds with intense high-speed chases on Yokohama’s highways, as Chihaya Hagiwara from the Kanagawa Police Motor Division pursues the mysterious motorcycle “Lucifer” using the advanced “Angel” motorcycle. The case brings back dark memories of her late brother Kenji Hagiwara and Matsuda Jinpei. Conan is challenged to solve the mystery behind the enigmatic “Lucifer” rider.
The film will showcase a historical battle between the Black Fallen Angel (Lucifer) and the Goddess of Wind (Angel). Alongside Conan Edogawa, key characters include Ran Mouri, Chihaya Hagiwara, Kenji Hagiwara, and Jinpei Matsuda, as well as new characters introduced in the storyline.
Detective Conan: The Fallen Angel of the Highway marks the 29th film release to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Detective Conan anime series.
Created in 1994, the Detective Conan manga (originally titled Case Close in English) by Gosho Aoyama follows Shinichi Kudo, a high school student whose body shrinks after being poisoned by the Black Organization mafia. Living under the alias Conan, he seeks to uncover the Black Organization while solving cases alongside the hapless private detective Kogoro Mouri.
Equipped with sophisticated gadgets from the Professor Agassa, Conan reveals mysteries using tools like the voice-changing bowtie, tranquilizer wristwatch, tracking glasses with listening capabilities, speed-enhancing shoes, ball-releasing belt, and solar-powered high-speed skateboard.
With over 1159 chapters as of March 2026, the manga is on a brief hiatus, set to return with chapter 1160 on April 7, 2026. The series remains popular globally, inspiring an anime series and numerous feature films.
