President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, recently paid his respects to the late Kwik Kian Gie, a well-respected economist and national figure, at the Sentosa Funeral Home in RSPAD Gatot Subroto, Central Jakarta. Known for his advocacy of Pancasila-based economics, Kwik passed away at the age of 90 on July 28, 2025. During his visit, President Prabowo expressed his condolences and highlighted Kwik’s significant contributions to the nation’s development, especially in promoting the Pancasila economy. He fondly remembered Kwik not only as an economist but also as a friend and mentor who had provided valuable insights over the years. Despite his passing, Kwik continued to engage with President Prabowo, offering recommendations and thoughts until the end. Prabowo emphasized the deep bond he shared with Kwik and the wisdom that Kwik had imparted, recognizing the loss of a remarkable figure and a beloved son of Indonesia.
