The race began smoothly with Verstappen taking the lead from pole position. Piastri maintained second place while Norris dropped to sixth after widening his position. A Virtual Safety Car was deployed in the second lap due to a collision involving Jack Doohan and Liam Lawson. As it was still early in the race, no drivers entered the pit.
By the 10th lap, Verstappen continued leading, with Piastri moving up to third place after overtaking Kimi Antonelli in earlier rounds. The duo from McLaren started heating up the track. Piastri eventually claimed the lead in the 14th lap and engaged in a fierce battle with Verstappen. Norris also fought closely with Verstappen before the pit stop period.
During the mid-race, drivers began changing tires, but a Safety Car intervention disrupted the scenario in the 29th lap. Verstappen, who pitted earlier on the 26th lap, lost positions to Norris and Russell.
