Jakarta – Prime Minister Singapura Lee Hsien Loong has congratulated presidential candidate number 2 Prabowo Subianto, who came out on top in the preliminary calculations of the 2024 presidential election.
“Lee and Prabowo discussed the very good bilateral relations,” said Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Chang Li Lin, as quoted from the Singaporean media, Channel News Asia, on Thursday (15/2).
Chang revealed that Lee and Prabowo also discussed an agreement on the importance of identifying new areas of mutually beneficial cooperation for both countries.
Lee also reportedly contacted President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to congratulate the smooth and successful implementation of the 2024 Election in Indonesia.
Furthermore, Chang said that during the second term of the two leaders, Lee and Jokowi have been working to strengthen the close relationship between Singapore and Indonesia through the resolution of longstanding bilateral issues.
“They have also pioneered new areas of cooperation in sustainability, digital economy, and human capital development,” said Chang.
The quick count results after the voting on Wednesday (14/2) indicated that Prabowo is likely to become the next President of Indonesia.
During a speech with vice presidential candidate number 2 Gibran Rakabuming Raka at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Prabowo promised to be a president for all layers of Indonesian society.
“Whatever the tribe, group, ethnicity, race, religion, social background, all the people of Indonesia will be our responsibility to take care of,” said Prabowo.
“We will form a government team consisting of the best sons and daughters of the Indonesian nation,” he added.
Based on the latest data from the General Elections Commission (KPU) at 5:28 PM WIB on the pemilu2024.kpu.go.id website, the Prabowo-Gibran pair is in the top position with a 56.32% share of the progress of 43.93% of the votes entered.
According to quick count from several survey institutions, Prabowo-Gibran leads by almost 60%. According to the Populi Center calculations with 99.72% of data entered, Prabowo-Gibran leads with 59.13%. Meanwhile, Poltracking with 95.9% of data entered, Prabowo-Gibran leads with 59.34%. (SENOPATI)
