Pinrang – SU (51), a man from Pinrang Regency, South Sulawesi, daringly assaulted his wife’s lover, AB (53), by using a machete. SU committed the assault because he was jealous of his wife having an affair with the victim.
The Chief of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Pinrang Police, Iptu Akhmad Risal, said that the assault was carried out by the perpetrator by slashing the victim’s head after catching his wife cheating.
“He assaulted the victim by slashing the victim’s head after catching his wife alone with another person,” said Akhmad when confirmed on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.
He explained that the incident began when the perpetrator was looking for his wife to discuss the continuation of their marriage after separating. However, when the perpetrator arrived at one of the boarding houses in the Paleteang area, he caught his wife being affectionate with another man inside the boarding house room. Immediately, the perpetrator became emotional and attacked the victim and his wife by slashing their heads.
“At first, he just wanted to meet his wife to discuss the continuation of their marriage, because they had separated, he wanted to talk to her. But when he arrived at the boarding house, he found a man who was suspected to be his wife’s affair inside the room. That’s when the perpetrator became emotional and immediately assaulted them,” explained Akhmad.
As a result of the assault, the wife’s lover suffered an open wound on the head and was taken to the hospital. The wife also suffered several injuries.
“There are wounds on the victim’s head because he was slashed with a machete by the perpetrator. He was immediately taken to the hospital for medical treatment,” he said.
The police, who received the report, immediately arrested the perpetrator on Sunday, December 24, in the early hours of the morning. The perpetrator admitted to daringly assaulting because he was emotional and jealous to find his wife cheating.
“The perpetrator was immediately arrested after the incident. He also admitted to his actions. His motive was because he felt emotional and jealous that the victim was dating or having an affair with his wife,” he said.
Currently, the perpetrator is undergoing questioning at the Pinrang Police Station for further legal proceedings.
